It is a privilege and honor to serve as the next President of the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association (MBLA). Since 1973, MBLA has strived to increase the visibility of attorneys of color in the legal community through education, professional development, and mentorship.
On our 50th anniversary, we paid tribute to our Founding Members with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Our Founders are visionaries and trailblazers. Their commitment to enhancing and promoting the profiles and achievements of Black lawyers continue. Over the next decade, the MBLA plans to designate a theme for each year. This year is about Resilience. For 50 years MBLA, through our memberships and collective commitment to excellence have and will continue to endure and withstand the test of time.
As President, I am committed to continuing the legacy of Black excellence, by advocating for equality, equity, justice, and increased representation throughout the judiciary system. In addition, I am committed to fostering meaningful collaboration and increasing membership engagement. The pandemic allowed us to pivot and expand our reach in collaborating and communicating with each other. No matter what area of law you practice or what company you work for, MBLA has and will always be a source of support for you.
I look forward to the program year of 2023-2024 as the year of Resilience and serving as your President.
